The upcoming G8 Summit will see Nemetons ‘Digisat’ HD satellite trucks providing the primary satellite feed for worldwide distribution.

The eyes of the world will be on the Lough Erne Golf Resort in Fermanagh where world leaders will gather to focus their minds on world events.

The G8 Summit takes place on the 17th and 18th of June.  The satellite links provided by Nemeton will send live pictures from the event to broadcasters all around the world.

Nemetons technical director Tomás Mac Craith says it’s a huge development to the service we provide “In terms of prestige and doing global business this is as good as it gets for an Irish Technology company.”

Nemeton TV wins All Ireland Marketing Award

Nemeton TV has taken one of the top prizes in the  All Ireland Marketing Awards.

The event which was held in  the Burlington Hotel in Dublin last week was attended by all the top marketeers from the country’s leading companies.

These “oscars” for the marketing profession are centred on the strategic value of marketing as a driver of business success.

Nemeton beat off some very strong competition in the ‘Marketing Through Irish’ category, including The Irish Independent and Bank of Ireland.

Managing Director, Irial Mac Murchú says differentiation is key in marketing.

“Using the Irish language can be a powerful way of standing out from the crowd. This has been a growing trend amongst Irish businesses, as they seek to emphasise their origin and brand values. The judges were looking for examples of firms which have harnessed the marketing potential of the Irish language and bilingualism and used this to support branding and positioning in the marketplace.” Continue reading

Laochra Gael – ‘Juliet Murphy’

New Series of Laochra Gael

on TG4 18th April at 8.00pm

Juliet Murphy has won seven All-Ireland medals in a glittering career with Cork Ladies Footballers, as inspirational captain for a fair share of those wins, and she tells us of the many highs but of some lows also in this programme. We learn of the early days of her career where much more emphasis was placed on club games rather than county games, but that all changed with the arrival of Eamonn Ryan as coach.

The Laochra Gael – ‘Juliet Murphy’’ programme will be repeated on  Sunday afternoon 21st April at 17.55pm on TG4.)

Laochra Gael – ‘Anthony Tohill’

LAOCHRA GAEL

on TG4 21st February @ 8:00pm

Anthony Tohill played with Derry from 1990 to 2002 and in that era the towering midfielder won an All Ireland, four National Leagues, four Allstars and two Ulster titles. He was widely recognised as one of the very best midfielders of his time, with great accuracy, strength and a huge engine.

In this programme, he thinks back to 1989 when he won both a Hogan Cup with St Pat’s Maghera, and an All Ireland Minor title with Derry. 1993 was obviously the highlight, when Derry won the All Ireland title and he laughs recalling the late simple free which he nearly missed. His outrage can still be sensed at the Derry County Board’s decision to jettison manager Eamonn Coleman after the 1994 loss to Down. Although Derry reached two All Ireland semi finals afterwards, one can hear from Anthony and his comrade, Tony Scullion, that they didn’t fully realise their potential.

Of course he had a long and successful period with the Ireland team in the International series against Australia, as a player, as a captain and as a manager, and he has great memories of wins during those times. Anthony and Tony are joined in the programme by Peter Canavan and Jarlath Burns.

Laochra Gael was produced by Nemeton TV, based in An Rinn, Co Waterford.

Laochra Gael – ‘Eddie Brennan’

New Series of Laochra Gael starts

on TG4 Valentine’s Day 14th February at 8:00pm.

Eddie Brennan won eight senior All-Ireland medals with his native Kilkenny between the years 2000 and 2011, and he terrorised defenders and goalkeepers throughout the country with his penchant for goalscoring.

Following his recent retirement from intercounty hurling, he shares his life story with us here. He was a late developer and didn’t represent Kilkenny at minor level but he won an under 21 All-Ireland medal in 1999, a day where he refused point blank to part with his jersey afterwards despite a serious injury.

He recalls his rude introduction to senior championship hurling against Dublin. He describes in detail the good days and bad days- far and few between! – in the Kilkenny jersey and how he had to alter his playing style and tactics in order to maintain his place on the team. As well as Eddie himself, there are contributions from Michael Kavanagh, Donal O’Grady, and Diarmuid Lyng.

Laochra Gael was produced by Nemeton TV, based in An Rinn, Co Waterford.

TG4 Ratings Success

The Irish-language broadcaster scored a double ratings hit over the weekend thanks to live coverage of the RaboDirect Pro 12 match between Leinster and Munster and the 2012 Ladies’ Football Final at Croke Park between Cork and Kerry.

Television ratings over the weekend show that the Irish-language broadcaster was the second most popular channel in Ireland on Saturday night, beaten narrowly into second place by RTÉ One, while TG4 was the top Irish channel by a distance on Sunday afternoon, securing a viewing share twice the size of its nearest rivals.

Nielsen TAM ratings show that 550,000 people tuned into TG4’s live rugby coverage on Saturday with an average of 237,000 viewers watching the entire match.

Approximately half a million people also tuned into TG4 at some stage during the GAA finals on Sunday with an average audience of 190,000 watching the senior game.

TG4 sports editor, Rónán Ó Coisdealbha said of the results: “Our live coverage of Irish sport is one of the channel’s major achievements and this weekend was one of the most successful of all in terms of attracting audience to seeing some of our top sporting stars, men and women in action in our most famous stadia. We are proud to be able to show them at their best.”
