Digisat just finished one of their busiest weekends ever! With 5 Live GAA matches in 1 day and a huge musical first with the staging of a live music event from the infamous Crumlin Jail in Belfast as part BBC’s music day.
With the addition of new MPU van late last year to the fleet, the year was off to a flying start and there seems to be no slowing down. The Digisat team have already clocked up more than 30’000 miles in the first 5 months, providing uplinks for live political, musical and sporting events throughout Ireland and Britain and will continue to travel many more thousand miles before the year ends.
Highlights of the year so far have included the British general elections, the Northwest 200 (the largest sporting event in Ireland) and the recent Royal visit by Prince Charles. As well as the ongoing live sport coverage for TG4, Digisat also work with Sky Sports, the BBC, and RTÉ.
The future certainly seems to be bright in the area of live event broadcast. “Keeping up to speed with the latest technology and the introduction of new players moving into the market are some of the constant business challenges we face. However, as with most businesses our strength is in our people, we employ some of the best in the industry and with their expertise and flexibility we are able to provide a service second to none” commented Tomás MacCraith, Head of Technical Facilities.
