This coming Saturday June 30th sees a first for Waterford as the WLR FM Waterford Viking Marathon takes place. This will be the very first marathon to take place in Waterford so it’s fitting that historic Viking fortifications on the mall will be the starting blocks for the runners from 9am.
The athletes will start their run down the quay and will endure a 26-mile run through the Viking city and out to Tramore before finishing at the RSC on the Cork Road.
To capture this momentous event for the county, An Rinn based production company – Nemeton TV will be present in Waterford and Tramore throughout the day to capture the sights, sounds and emotions of the occasion and most especially the spirit of these amazing runners who are taking to the challenge for a great cause, with Waterford Alzheimer’s society and Waterford Hospice being the designated charities for 2012 marathon.
