A busy weekend of producing Scottish sports content begins for us at The Energy Check Stadium at Firhill in Glasgow on Saturday (21st April) as the post-split fixtures begin in the Scottish Premiership. Bottom of the table Partick Thistle take on Hamilton Academical who are five points above them, with both sides needing a win in their fight to remain in the Scottish top flight next season. At half-time, we pay tribute to former Thistle and Accies manager John Lambie who passed earlier this month away after a battling a long-standing illness. In the extended feature, we speak to those who worked with him and played under him about the influence he had not only on their careers, but also on their lives.

Also on Saturday, we’ll be in Belfast for live coverage of the rearranged Round 17 fixture between Ulster and Glasgow Warriors from the Guinness PRO14. The match will be live on BBC Two Scotland. Having narrowly beaten the Ospreys last weekend, Ulster need two bonus point wins in their remaining two fixtures to have a chance of reaching the final series play-offs. Glasgow, on the other hand head to the Kingspan stadium having sealed a home semi-final spot with a win over Connacht last weekend, but head coach Dave Rennie has made it clear that they aim to win their remaining games in the regular league season. The match - which was originally postponed due to the snow caused by the “beast from the east” back in the beginning of March – could also be a pivotal one in Edinburgh’s season – with Ulster their nearest challengers for that valuable play-off spot.

Sunday concludes our weekend sporting coverage and it’s certainly last but not least! We’re live on BBC ALBA for the Scottish League One clash between Alloa Athletic and Ayr United. The home side are all but assured a play-off place for a chance to gain promotion to next season’s Championship. Ayr United however, are looking to stay in top spot, and potentially clinch the league title depending on other results around them. Raith Rovers failing to win on Saturday afternoon followed by an Ayr United win on Sunday would seal the title and automatic promotion to the Championship. At half-time, we speak to Jim Goodwin on his aim to guide Alloa Athletic to promotion, after last season’s heart-breaking loss to Brechin City in the play-off final. We’ll also be taking a look at Ayr United and how becoming a full-time club last summer has helped their bid for promotion this season.

It’s set to be a defining weekend across the sports!
