Shinty returns soon to BBC ALBA.
As the days begin to get longer and the summer weather draws in, with it comes Shinty coverage on BBC ALBA.
The draw for the semi-finals of this year’s MacTavish Cup took place today (26th April) at BBC Pacific Quay in Glasgow.
Amongst the teams in the hat were Caberfeidh who beat Fort William 5-0 at An Aird. Kinlochshiel booked their place in the draw with a 7-2 win over Lochaber and Lovat saw off Skye Camanachd 2-1 in Portree. It took penalty hits to separate defending champions Newtonmore and Glenurquhart as their match ended at 1-1 at the end of regular time and 2-2 at the end of extra time. Newtonmore kept their hopes of retaining the trophy alive by winning 5-4 in the shootout.
The draw sees Lovat take on holders Newtonmore, and Kinlochshiel playing host to Caberfeidh with both ties scheduled to be played on Saturday 19th May.
We’re looking forward to producing plenty shinty coverage over the coming months, including the MacTavish Cup final, the Glasgow Celtic Society Cup final, the WCA Valerie Fraser Cup final as well as Camanachd Cup and Premiership action.
