Camanachd Cup LIVE on BBC ALBA.
After the summer break, we’re straight back into shinty action this weekend as we produce live coverage of the first of this year’s Camanachd Cup Semi-finals.
Holders Newtonmore take on Kilmallie on Saturday afternoon in a bid for a place in the final of arguably the most prestigious trophy in the sport. Newtonmore’s passage to the semi-final stage involved two away wins, beating Lochaber 1 – 0 before then seeing off Kinlochshiel 4 – 2. Kilmallie got off to the best possible start in the competition, thumping Ballachulish by fourteen goals to nil. In the second round, they were held to a 0 – 0 draw by Inveraray before winning the replay 4 – 0. Kilmallie then met Kyles Athletic in the third round, a 2 – 1 win against the Tighnabruich side, sealing their place in the last four.
At half-time, we hear from shinty referee Ross Brown. Ross was often a thorn in the side of referees when he played for Lochcarron. Now the former player is the man in the middle and in the first of our 2-part feature, Ross reflects on his shinty career and his time spent away from the sport while working around the world.
Live coverage from An Aird in Fort William on Saturday afternoon starts from 16:00 with throw-up at 16:05, and you can watch it all on BBC ALBA, the BBC iPlayer, or watch the best bits on BBC ALBA’s twitter page.
