Bord Gáis Energy Team of the Year Award Ceremony

The Nemeton production team are working hard this week in preparation for the inaugural Bord Gáis Energy Team of the Year Award Ceremony which will be televised live on TG4 on Saturday, 12th October at 8.30pm

This hour long broadcast hosted by TG4 presenter Micheál Ó Domhnaill will look back over the 2013 Bord Gáis Energy U-21 Hurling Championship with contributions from current and former U-21 players and managers.

The highlights of the ceremony will include the Team of the Year announcement, as well as the Bord Gáis Energy Player of the Year award that will be presented in both the ‘A’ and the ‘B’ championships.

Fans of the championships have also been having their say by casting their votes for the ‘Bord Gáis Energy Score of the Year Award’ on the Bord Gáis Energy U-21 Hurling’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.  The winners of this award will also be announced live on the night.

Speaking recently, Ger Cunningham, sports ambassador at Bord Gáis Energy said, “It’s a fantastic way to finish up what has been a championship full of excitement, passion and hurling of the highest quality. To narrow the list down to forty-five players was a mammoth task and we now have to finalise the final fifteen which is not going to an easy task.

“It will no doubt be a wonderful night for all involved and Bord Gáis Energy is delighted to be involved in recognising the best young hurlers in 2013.”

Best ever viewing figures for Ladies Football on TG4

Yesterday’s live coverage of the TG4 Ladies Football Finals 2013 from Croke Park saw TG4 get its highest viewing figures to date for the occasion.
Official figures provided by Nielsen report that 625,000 people tuned into TG4’s coverage during the afternoon, with 328,000 watching the exciting climax to the Senior final as Cork edged out Monaghan to win their 8th TG4 Senior title in 9 years, a unique achievement in modern Irish sport.

This viewing made TG4 the highest watched channel in Ireland yesterday afternoon with a share of viewing double that of its nearest competitor.  It was also TG4’s highest ever viewership for this fixture, the 13th year it has been shown on the channel.

Viewing for each of the three 2013 Finals broadcast was well up on the previous year.  Earlier in the afternoon Cavan won a hard-earned Intermediate final over Tipperary while Offaly came out on top over Wexford in the Junior decider.
