A busy weekend of sport on BBC ALBA

FIFA Women’s World Cup Qualifier – Switzerland v Scotland – 18:00, Thursday 5th April

PRO14 Rugby – Edinburgh v Ulster – 19:25, Friday 6th April

SPFL Scottish Premiership – Heart of Midlothian v Aberdeen – 18:00, Saturday 7th April

A busy weekend of sport on BBC ALBA kicks off on Thursday evening (5th April) as Scotland Women travel to face Group 2 leaders Switzerland in their latest round of qualifying fixtures for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France. In our extended feature at half-time, we catch up with Scotland National Team Head Coach, Shelley Kerr on the qualifying campaign so far, and on the players she has brought in to her new look squad.

Friday night sees a clash that could prove crucial in Conference B of this season’s Guinness PRO14. In-form Edinburgh welcome play-off rivals Ulster to BT Murrayfield, with the away side trying to scupper Edinburgh’s recent run of form against the Irish provinces. In an extended interview, we chat to the Scottish capital club’s captain Fraser McKenzie who discusses their upturn in fortunes this season that sees them currently on a run of 16 wins from their last 20 matches and closing in on a PRO14 play-off place.

Rounding off the weekend’s sporting action is our featured match from the Scottish Premiership as Heart of Midlothian face Aberdeen at Tynecastle Park. Both sides are now assured a top-six finish in this season’s top flight, however there is still plenty to play for as Aberdeen look to hold on to 2nd place, and Hearts chase down Kilmarnock in 5th Place. In our extended feature at half-time, we take a look behind the scenes at the National Library of Scotland as they catalogue their entire collection of more than ten thousand football programmes.

We have more football and rugby action on BBC ALBA next week too:

FIFA Women’s World Cup Qualifier – Scotland v Poland – 19:25, Tuesday 10th April

PRO14 Rugby – Glasgow Warriors v Connacht – 19:25, Friday 13th April
