Television Production

the challenge

TG4 won the rights for the All-Ireland Minor Football and Hurling Championship finals. This meant Croke Park would have 3 broadcasters (TG4, RTÉ & Sky Sports) on location on the biggest days of the GAA calendar across six Sundays in August and September.

The challenge was to successfully coordinate with RTÉ and Sky who were focussed on the the higher-profile senior games.

the solution

Nemeton’ s production team and their unique approach made sure that TG4 would get the best possible outcomes:

  • To provide the viewers with all the top action using a creative approach that maximised the facilities on location, while being aware of the other broadcasters’ needs.
  • A flexible and inventive approach allowed us to deliver extra resources of our own, to make the broadcast uniquely TG4’s.
  • Using strong negotiation and communication skills to hammer out deals on shared facilities, resources and positions for hosting and commentary.

the results

A full match production dedicated to the Minor Championships with a top class analysis team of former players with half hour build-ups to focus on the game, half-time and full time analysis. TG4 gained an invaluable slot on their schedule on one of the biggest sporting days of the year with weekly viewing figures averaging 18% of the audience share and over 4 million viewers tuning in since the six-programme run began.
